The Old Course Hotel is a 5-star property in St Andrews, Scotland. While hugely successful in the Summer, demand is seasonal, and it struggles during the winter months in a significantly competitive arena for Corporate business. The Old Course Hotel agreed to contract VROOM to increase its Meeting and Events business in the winter months from London and the South East.
The Old Course Hotel recognised that investment in a Sales Team in the South of England would yield returns over the medium to long term, however, due to VROOM’s experience in this area and extensive network they initially provided two days a week representation. This was the preferred approach instead of hiring a team initially as VROOM knew this would yield quicker results via their extremely experienced Salesperson which had both the understanding of the luxury Scottish Market as well as the strong existing relationships in the South.
It also was low risk and cost-effective with an initial 6-month contract that went on to last three years before the Old Course Hotel decided to employ 2 x full-time Sales Managers based in England.
VROOM’s contract was extended from an initial 6-month trial to 3 years. In year 2 and 3 over £700k of M&E business was secured for The Old Course Hotel, both from switch selling from direct competitors as well as acquiring new business from the South. The Old Course Hotel went on to recruit two full-time Sales Managers based in the London Area.
