Objective

Portavadie is a 4-star property on the banks of Loch Fyne approximately a 2-hour drive from Glasgow. Due to the location, staff retention is critical and a comprehensive, progressive training programme is a crucial part of their culture. Our Challenge was to

• Develop a management programme that gave their head of departments well rounded training across all areas of the business

• Integrate sales & marketing as a core module of this training course.

The goal of the training course is that it would assist them with development not only at Portavadie but also for their future careers. It would additionally support Portavadie’s outstanding reputation in the work market as an employee with a progressive approach to training.

Solution

We started the project with a comprehensive brief from the Managing Director which gave us an understanding not only of what the workshop delivered but also of the project work the team needed to undertake to achieve their overall Leadership programme.

The course covered

• Basic principles of sales & marketing with a focus on how the whole team at Portavadie are a crucial part of the sales team and how they can best interact with their guests to increase revenues.

• Focusing on each head of department and their responsibility within their own division to increase revenues through marketing & sales activity.

Outcome

The training course became an award-winning Accelerated Leadership Program by the University of the Highland and Islands.
